PlinqPrivacy Policy
Plinq collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, and no Plinq server. We cannot see your wallet, your balances, or your payments, because none of it ever reaches us.
Information we collect
None. Plinq has no sign-up, asks for no email address or phone number, and contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. We operate no server that your wallet talks to, so there is no account of yours for us to hold, sell, or lose.
Your wallet and your keys
Your recovery phrase is generated on your iPhone and stored in the iOS Keychain, marked so that it can be read only on that device and only while the device is unlocked. It is never transmitted, never backed up to us, and never leaves your phone.
Because Plinq is self-custody, we cannot recover your wallet for you. If you lose both the device and your recovery phrase, the funds are unreachable — by you and by us alike.
What happens when you tap two phones
Paying by touching phones uses your device’s local network, Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband radios to find the other phone and measure how far away it is. All of it is direct, device to device. Nothing is routed through us.
When the two phones meet, they exchange only:
- the display name shown in your app
- your public wallet addresses, so the other phone knows where to send
- a random number used to derive the four-character code both screens show
That exchange happens only once the phones are physically held together. A phone merely nearby receives nothing.
Third-party services
To show balances and prices, Plinq reads public blockchain nodes and price APIs directly from your device. We do not operate these services and we do not receive their responses.
Because those are direct requests from your phone, the providers can see your IP address and the public wallet addresses being queried. That is inherent to reading a public blockchain and is true of every wallet. Providers currently include public RPC nodes for the supported chains, Blockscout, Esplora, CoinGecko and Jupiter, each governed by its own privacy policy.
Blockchain transactions are public
A payment sent with Plinq is recorded on a public blockchain. Amounts, addresses and timestamps are permanently visible to anyone, cannot be deleted, and are outside our control or anyone else’s. This is a property of the blockchains themselves, not of Plinq.
Children
Plinq is not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
